How to plant bulbs correctly

Gardeners recommend planting bulbs in autumn, when the soil is still warm but no longer hot. With a bulb planter, make a hole, place the bulb point-up and cover with loose soil.

Tulips and daffodils – about 2–3 bulb heights deep
Crocuses – shallower, especially in light soil
Hyacinths – plant a bit deeper; if the soil is heavy, add a thin layer of sand for better drainage
After planting, gently firm the soil and water
